Introducing two successful programs we’ve developed: an ESL course spanning four terms using the “Interchange” series, and a University Preparation (UP) program tailored for advanced language skills and readiness for Canadian universities.
Designed specifically for D&H College, our ESL program offers a comprehensive one-year language learning experience. Structured across four terms and utilizing the acclaimed “Interchange” series by Jack C. Richards (5th edition, 2017), this program is tailored to provide students with a solid foundation in English language skills.
Program Overview: Our ESL program at D&H College reflects our dedication to comprehensive language learning. Designed in collaboration with D&H College, it’s structured across four terms and utilizes the “Interchange” series by Jack C. Richards (5th edition, 2017), showcasing our commitment to fostering language proficiency and academic success.
Program Structure and Levels:
- Term Structure: One-year program divided into four 11-week terms.
- Textbook Usage: Sequential progression through “Interchange” series by Jack C. Richards.
- Weekly Routine: One unit per week covering all language skills.
- Assessment: Weekly quizzes, midterms, and finals to gauge progress.
- Levels: Newcomer ESL, ESL Level 1, ESL Level 2, and ESL Level 3, each targeting specific CEFR proficiency levels.
- Course Goals: Focused on developing language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing aligned with CEFR standards.
Instructional Materials:
- Core Textbooks: “Interchange” series by Jack C. Richards (5th edition, 2017).
- Workbook Activities: Reinforcement exercises for practice and feedback.
- Interactive Learning: Digital engagement through the Interchange Interactive Platform.
- Library Resources: Extensive ESL materials available for supplementary learning.

Introducing the University Preparation (UP) program at D&H College, designed by Score Guides Company to equip non-native English speakers with advanced language skills and academic readiness for Canadian universities. This intensive three-month course integrates reading, writing, listening, and speaking, focusing on academic language proficiency and study strategies.
Course Overview & Structure:
The UP program spans 12 weeks (3 months) and aims to:
- Develop skills for success in Canadian academic culture and classrooms.
- Enhance language proficiency in grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking, and pronunciation.
- Foster effective communication in academic environments like lectures, seminars, discussions, presentations, and group work.
- Equip students with confidence and skills to pursue further studies in university programs.
Over 12 weeks, students cover critical thinking, research, writing, presentations, group discussions, and information evaluation, progressively building academic skills.
Means of Delivery: The UP program is delivered in a hybrid format, blending on-campus instruction with asynchronous learning on Moodle. This combines interactive sessions with online resources to support student learning.
Project Timeline: The UP program development spanned from January to February 2024, involving two months of thorough planning. The tailored curriculum meets evolving student needs for Canadian university studies, ensuring relevance and effectiveness in academic readiness.
